BBC6Music – Gig Buddies on the Steve Lamaqc show

Independent Venue Week and Gig Buddies on BBC6Music

This week Madeline, our Gig Buddies Project Manager, was interviewed on the Steve Lamaqc show on BBC6Music.

We were thrilled to partner up with Independent Venue Week this year. We see Independent Venues as vital places in our communities, there’s a wealth of music to go and enjoy but they’re also places where you can meet other fans of the same kind of music and get to know new people.

Our partnership this year was to enable independent venues to enable people with learning disabilities, and their personal assistants to enjoy gigs in the week by funding tickets for the personal assistants. Quite often independent venues are small and they struggle to give away free tickets due to needing to cover their costs. The plan was to encourage them to think about how they could create more opportunities like this throughout the year.

We’re hoping to develop our partnership next year especially as the plan is that we’ll have many more gig goers and venues involved next year as we support more organisations to run Gig Buddies projects across the UK.

Here’s Madeline being interviewed by Steve Lamacq on BBC6Music, 27th Jan ’16 where she’s talking about her ‘good day, bad day’ records and also the work of Gig Buddies.

Here’s the clip on Soundcloud too:
